Herb of the Week: Elderberry (Sambucus nigra)

Posted by Nick Nowaczyk on

Elderberry has a long history as a remedy for colds, flu’s and upper respiratory infections. Elderberries are antiviral and contain immune- stimulating properties. Elderberries also are high in vitamin C. They are powerful diaphoretics. They are also useful for rheumatism. Elder berries also ease symptoms of digestive disorders such as diarrhea and flatulence.  Elder is in a couple of my blends including Berry Well and Herbal Cold and Flu.
Herbal Actions: Diaphoretic, diuretic and laxative
